Cambria Bathroom Remodeling: The Houston Owner’s Guide

A full Cambria bathroom remodel in Houston typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on the size of the room, the Cambria series you choose, and what’s behind the walls once we open them. We stock Cambria quartz slabs and coordinate fabrication with Cambria-certified shops, so your slab specs, edge profiles, and sink cutouts come back matched to your exact measurements. Most full bathroom remodels with Cambria surfaces take two to four weeks from demo to final walkthrough, and we give you the written price before we touch a tool.

The way most Houston homeowners find us is the same story every time. A vanity top has a chip running along the front edge from a drawer that wasn’t installed with enough clearance. Or a shower bench is pulling away from the wall because the original installer sealed the seam but didn’t slope the seat for drainage. Or the Cambria backsplash behind the vanity is fine, but the substrate behind it has been absorbing Houston humidity for years and now the whole thing moves when you lean on it. You don’t need a new Cambria slab in most cases. You need the right person to tell you what actually failed, and what it costs to fix it right.

Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria produces quartz in dozens of design collections, and the naming matters when you’re matching a repair or planning a remodel around existing pieces. The popular lines we work with most often in Houston bathrooms include Brittanicca, Torquay, Ella, Summerhill, Portrush, and Skelmersdale, along with the Marble Collection and Coastal Collection series. Each Cambria design has a fixed slab thickness, usually 2 cm or 3 cm, and the thickness changes how we handle the edge profile and whether you need plywood underlayment beneath the slab.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches people: Cambria changes design formulas and retires colors without much notice. If your bathroom was done in 2018 and you chipped the vanity top, the exact same design name may still exist but with a slightly reformulated look that won’t match your old slab. The only reliable way to match is to pull the slab lot number from the underside of your existing Cambria piece, or take a photo of the etched Cambria logo and the fabrication label on the underside. We handle that identification for you during the estimate. If an exact match is no longer available, we’ll show you current Cambria designs that read the same in your light and give you the price difference in writing.

For the OEM versus aftermarket question: Cambria does not sell quartz through third-party manufacturers. The slab you get is Cambria quartz or it isn’t. What you do have choices on are the sink, faucet, and drain assemblies that sit in the Cambria top. We stock Kohler and Moen faucets and sinks that fit Cambria’s standard cutout templates. On the support side, we use Cambria’s recommended 5/8-inch plywood substrate beneath 2 cm slabs and nothing but a proper bed of silicone at the cabinet rim. That spec is on our written quote, every time.

Signs Your Cambria Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Hairline cracks running from the sink cutout or faucet holes. Quartz is dense, but the weakest points are always the cutouts. A crack usually means the top wasn’t supported evenly beneath the cutout, or the faucet was overtightened against the stone. Once it appears, it travels.
  • Seam separation at the backsplash or between vanity sections. Houston’s humidity expands wood cabinets and wall framing more than people expect. If the original installer butted stone seams tight with no room for movement, the seam opens and you see a dark gap that collects water.
  • Water staining or darkening along the caulk line behind the vanity. The Cambria surface itself won’t stain from this, but the caulk joint at the wall eventually fails. Water gets behind the slab, soaks the drywall and cabinet back, and the stain shows at the seam. The stone is fine; the install detail failed.
  • A Cambria shower bench or curb that sounds hollow when tapped. Quartz must be set on continuous mortar support, not dabs and blobs. If the bench sounds different in different spots, the bed beneath it has voids, and that slab will crack under weight eventually.
  • Edges chipping at the counter overhang from cabinet doors or drawers. The giveaway is a drawer face that contacts the underside of the slab when opened. That means the cabinet installer didn’t calculate drawer front clearance for the 3 cm stone overhang. The chip is a symptom; the cabinet face is the cause.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

For a Cambria bathroom remodel in Houston, plan on $9,000 to $28,000 for the full scope. Smaller jobs like a single vanity top replacement with a Cambria slab run toward the lower end, and full primary-bath teardowns with a walk-in shower, Cambria bench, and Cambria vanity run toward the top. Here’s how the numbers break down in our Houston quotes:

  • Cambria vanity top replacement (single sink, stock edge): $2,000 – $5,000 installed
  • Cambria shower bench and curb set: $1,200 – $3,200 installed
  • Cambria shower surround (three walls with slab or large-format panel fabrication): $4,000 – $9,000 installed
  • Full bathroom remodel with Cambria vanity, Cambria shower components, and standard fixtures: $9,000 – $28,000 installed

The range moves on two things: slab selection and what’s behind the tile once demolition starts. Cambria designs in the standard collection price differently than the higher-end Marble Collection. A 3 cm slab costs more than a 2 cm slab, and complex edge profiles add fabrication time. Behind the walls, Houston bathrooms hide rotted subfloor from years of toilet wax ring leaks, or framing that has to be corrected before the Cambria goes in. Think of it as straight-line labor in Houston: we pay for the trades, the permits, the slab, and the cleanup. You’ll find that all on the written quote, with no change orders unless you ask for a change. Every Bradford remodel carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work fails inside a year, we come back and correct it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can check two things safely without touching a tool: whether the cabinet face clears the Cambria overhang, and whether the caulk seam at the backsplash is still sealed. Past that, Cambria work is not a homeowner job. The slabs weigh 200 to 400 pounds depending on size, and setting a shower bench or vanity top properly takes two people with proper lifting gear and a mortar bed mixed to spec. A dropped slab takes out your cabinet, your floor, and whatever is under it. The bigger mistake we see is someone caulking over a failed seam and calling it fixed. That keeps water out for a month, maybe two, and the damage underneath keeps growing.

If you’ve got a Cambria piece that isn’t sitting right, call (940) 289-7658. We’ll tell you what failed, what it costs to fix, and whether the rest of the bathroom is worth saving. The estimate is free and so is the straight answer.
