Toto Fence Installation: The Houston Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Toto-compatible fence hardware and components throughout Houston, with most complete fence replacements running $3,500 to $9,000 depending on linear footage, gate hardware, and post condition. Most Houston owners discover a problem the hard way: a gate that suddenly drags across the concrete after a rain, a post leaning hard toward the alley, or a latch that stopped catching because the door slab swelled in July humidity. The fix is rarely just one part. It’s usually a combination of failed post footing, rusted hinge hardware, and a warped rail that together tell you the fence has hit its service limit.
Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto builds fence systems around a few repeating hardware standards, not a dozen proprietary formats. The fences we see most in Houston are residential perimeter enclosures with 2-3/8″ or 2-1/2″ galvanized posts, 1-5/8″ top rails, and either Toto’s pressed steel or aluminum fence sections. Before you order anything, read the stamp on the hinge plate or post cap. Toto stamps a part number there, usually starting with a TK or TF prefix, and that number tells us the section width and post spec without guessing.
The real compatibility gotcha is this: Toto’s gate hardware changed about eight years ago, and the newer hinges don’t align with the older frame punch-outs. If your fence is a Toto from the earlier run, we order the legacy hinge set rather than forcing the new one into a hole pattern it wasn’t drilled for. That’s the difference between a gate that swings clean and one we’re back out to rehang within six months.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Toto latch assemblies and gate rollers, we use the factory parts. The aftermarket equivalents in this category wear faster in Houston’s humidity and salt air near the coast. For posts and rails, quality domestic aftermarket is often a better dollar-per-year value, and we’ll put that recommendation in writing with the quote.

Signs Your Toto Fence Installation Is Failing
- Gate drags or won’t close. The post has moved off plumb, or the hinge side of the gate has sagged because the rail connection loosened. In Houston’s clay soil, post movement after heavy rain is the most common starting point.
- Posts lean, especially after rain. Sitting water softens the footing, and a post set in inadequate concrete starts to tilt. We regularly find posts in Houston backyards with only 18 inches of concrete when 30 inches is what the soil here actually needs.
- Latch and striker don’t align anymore. The gate slab swelled in summer humidity, or the post shifted a quarter inch. Owners usually force the latch, which bends the striker plate, which makes the alignment worse.
- Rust bleeding from bolt holes or hinge plates. Galvanized hardware fails at the cut edges first. Salt air from the Gulf accelerates it. If you’re seeing rust streaks, the metal’s already lost its protective layer and the failure is structural, not cosmetic.
- Fence sections rattle in the wind or sag between posts. The rail attachments are wallowed out, or the timber behind them – if it’s a hybrid fence – is rotting. In Houston, that’s a ground-contact moisture problem, and replacing one section without addressing drainage just moves the problem down the line.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Houston, a full Toto fence replacement with factory gate hardware runs $3,500 to $9,000 installed. The range is driven mostly by linear footage, the number of gates, and whether we’re reusing existing posts or pulling and resetting them. A 150-foot run with two gates on flat ground lands near the middle of that range. But a yard with any slope, a retaining wall, or posts that have to be core-drilled out of a patio slab will push toward the top.
Every quote we give is written line-item: sections, posts, concrete, hardware, labor, haul-off. No number moves at the door. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to the complete install. If anything in the fence fails within one year – gate sag, post lean, hardware binding – we come back and correct it at no charge. Your fence stays squared away, and you have it in writing before the first post hole is dug.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check alignment, verify the part number stamped on the hinge plate, and confirm your post spacing with a tape measure. That information sharpens the quote and saves time. What we wouldn’t recommend is resetting a fence post yourself. A mis-set post looks straight for three weeks, then the Houston rain settles the clay, and you’ve got a gate that drags exactly like it did before you started. You also need a second person for any full section swap – fence panels are awkwardly long and light enough to catch wind, which is how fingers get pinched and frames get bent.
If the post footings are good and it’s purely a latch or hinge swap, that’s manageable for a confident homeowner with the right tools. If the gate is heavy, the post is leaning, or the rails show rust-through at the bolt line, call (940) 289-7658. We’ll give you a straight scope and a straight number. That’s the whole conversation.
FAQs

With proper post depth and good drainage, expect 12 to 18 years from galvanized steel sections before you’re chasing rust through the bolt points. Houston’s humidity and occasional salt air near the coast shorten that window. Post footings are what fail first here, not the panels.
Sometimes. If the post itself is straight and the lean is from a shallow or cracked footing, we can sometimes re-bed it in new concrete and be done. If the post is rusted at the ground line or the section rails are wallowed, replacement is the honest call. Call (940) 289-7658 and we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at before anything gets dug up.
Most residential replacements run one to three working days, start to finish. The pace is set by post pull and reset – if we’re reusing existing posts, we’re usually done in a day. If we’re cutting and setting new ones, figure two to three days with proper concrete cure time.
We keep Toto gate latches, hinges, and rollers on the truck for the most common fence series, along with standard post caps and rail hardware. Legacy Toto hinge sets and specialty gate parts may be a two-day order, and we’ll tell you that at the quote stage so there’s no surprise on the schedule.
