Grohe Driveway & Pavers: The Houston Owner’s Guide
Grohe doesn’t manufacture driveway pavers. If you have a Grohe product that’s failed and you’re looking at a driveway or paver repair in Houston, you’re likely dealing with two separate issues: a Grohe fixture inside the home, and a hardscape problem outside it. Bradford Remodeling Co Houston installs paver driveways in Houston for $7,000 to $18,000, and we’re the crew that shows up, writes the number down, and stands behind it for a full year. Most Houston homeowners call us when pavers have shifted after a heavy rain, when tree roots have pushed a section up, or when the base under the driveway has washed out and the surface is starting to sag. That’s the symptom picture: water gets under the pavers, the clay soil in Houston moves, and what was flat on Monday is heaving by Friday.
We’re an independent remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Grohe. If the Grohe part is inside your home, this page may not be the one you need. If the driveway or paver work is what brought you here, keep reading.
Which Houston Driveway & Paver Jobs This Applies To

Most of the paver driveways we see in Houston fall into three categories. The first is the classic rectangular concrete paver in a running-bond pattern, usually 60mm thick, laid over a compacted crushed-stone base. The second is the larger-format paver, often 80mm, used in newer subdivisions where the HOA mandates a specific color and texture. The third is the tumbled or travertine-look paver, which reads high-end but is often thinner at the edge and more prone to chipping if the base fails.
The part most owners actually need isn’t a single paver. It’s the base. Houston’s gumbo clay expands when it’s wet and contracts when it’s dry, which means a driveway that was installed correctly eight years ago can still fail if the drainage around it changed. A new downspout that dumps water at the garage corner, a neighbor’s pool overflow, a French drain that collapsed: any of these will wash out the substrate, and the pavers on top have nothing left to sit on. When we quote a paver driveway in Houston, the line item that matters isn’t just the paver color. It’s the depth and compaction of the base we’re putting under it.
For the record, Curtis Lane has been running crews in Houston for over a decade, and he’ll tell you the same thing on every paver site: if the base isn’t right, the top doesn’t matter. We install Unilock and Belgard pavers, among other documented brands, and we spec the base per manufacturer requirements, not per what’s easy to haul.

Signs Your Paver Driveway Is Failing
- Pavers rocking underfoot or under tire. This is a base failure. The sand bedding layer under the pavers has washed away or compacted unevenly, so individual stones move. If we catch it early, we can sometimes re-bed a small section. If it’s widespread, the driveway needs a partial or full reset.
- Water pooling in low spots after rain. A properly sloped paver driveway sheds water. A low spot that holds water means the base underneath has settled. In Houston, standing water on a driveway also breeds mosquitoes, so it’s not a cosmetic issue to ignore.
- Paver edges creeping outward or gaps opening between stones. Edge restraints have failed. The border that holds the outer row of pavers in place has bent, rusted, or pulled loose, and the whole field starts drifting. This usually happens at the garage apron or along the street curb.
- Cracks running through multiple pavers in a line. That line usually traces a weak spot in the base: where a utility trench was backfilled without full compaction, or where a tree root is pushing up from below. You can replace the cracked pavers, but until the base is addressed, new ones will crack the same way.
- Sand washing out onto the driveway after rain. If you see sand accumulating at the low end of your driveway after a storm, the joint sand is eroding from between the pavers. That sand is what locks the stones together. Lose it, and the pavers start shifting on their own.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full paver driveway installation in Houston runs $7,000 to $18,000 at Bradford Remodeling Co Houston. The range depends on three things: square footage, base depth, and paver style. A standard two-car driveway with a 60mm concrete paver tends toward the lower end. A longer driveway or one with a circular approach, a thicker 80mm paver, or a premium finish like tumbled stone pushes toward the upper end.
- Paver removal and reset (partial, one section): $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the size of the failed area and whether we’re reusing existing pavers.
- Full driveway replacement with standard 60mm pavers: $7,000 to $14,000 for a typical two-car driveway and proper base rebuild.
- New paver driveway install (no existing removal): $8,000 to $18,000, including base, sand bedding, pavers, edge restraints, and joint sand.
- Concrete driveway (poured, not paver): $4,500 to $12,000, depending on finish, thickness, and site prep.
Every number we give is a written line-item quote before work starts. That’s the Garrison Standard. You’ll see the paver cost, the base cost, the haul-off cost, and the labor, each on its own line. What you won’t see is a number that moves at the door. And when the job closes, Curtis Lane’s crew leaves the site clean, the scope signed off, and a written 365-Day Done Right Promise in your hand. If the work fails inside that window, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Walk the driveway after a rain and note where water pools. Look at the edges and see if the restraints are pulling away. If a single paver is rocking, lift it and look at what’s underneath. If the sand bedding is gone and there’s bare clay below, that’s information we need. But resetting a paver driveway properly requires digging out the failed base, recompacting in lifts, and relaying the pavers to the original grade. Do it halfway, and the same section shifts again in the next Houston downpour. If the failure is on a sloped section or near the garage apron where water flows, we’d rather you call us before the problem spreads under the slab. Call (940) 289-7658 and we’ll put a number on it.
FAQs

A properly built paver driveway in Houston should hold for 20 to 30 years, provided the base was compacted correctly and the drainage around it hasn’t changed. What we typically see fail first isn’t the paver itself. It’s the base underneath, usually because water found a way in. A driveway that starts shifting at year 8 usually had a drainage issue at year 3.
Yes, if the failure is localized. We can pull a section, rebuild the base under it, and relay the same pavers. But if the base has failed across a wide area, or if the edge restraints have let go on multiple sides, a patch job just moves the problem down the driveway. We’ll tell you which situation you have. Call (940) 289-7658 for a straight read on it.
A typical two-car paver driveway replacement in Houston takes 3 to 5 working days from demolition to final joint sand. That includes tearing out the old surface, excavating to the right base depth, compacting the sub-base, laying bedding sand, setting pavers, cutting edges, and sweeping in the joint sand. Weather can push that a day or two in the spring when Houston storms roll through.
We keep a working inventory of common 60mm concrete pavers in standard Houston colors like charcoal, tan, and red on hand for small repairs. Larger jobs, custom colors, and 80mm pavers are ordered from Belgard and Unilock with a lead time of 3 to 10 days. If you need an exact match on an existing driveway, we’ll take a sample and source the closest available match, and we’ll show you the sample before we lay it. Call (940) 289-7658 and tell us what you’ve got; estimates are free.
