Cover Driveway & Pavers: The Houston Owner’s Guide
We stock and install driveway and paver components sized to Cover’s residential driveway systems, with a typical installed job in Houston running $4,500 – $18,000 depending on scope, material spec, and ground conditions. For a failed section or sub-base repair, most owners are looking at $2,000 – $6,000 on an isolated fix. You’ll usually know it failed when a paver starts rocking underfoot, standing water stops draining, or a border course shifts out of line. We carry the common sizes on the truck and can price the job the same day we look at it.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover’s driveway components run across their modular paver and surface-drainage lines, which is where confusion starts. The pavers themselves are dimensionally consistent (common 60mm and 80mm thicknesses for vehicular use), but the edge restraints, base panels, and transitions vary by product generation. Match the part by pulling a loose unit and checking the underside: newer Cover pavers carry a molded batch code near the corner, older runs don’t. If the code’s worn off, set a paver on a flat surface and measure thickness with a straightedge, not a tape hung off the edge. An 80mm unit mixed into a 60mm field is the most common DIY ordering error we see.
For the parts themselves, we recommend OEM Cover components when the run is under warranty or when an HOA in the Houston area requires documented material continuity. For out-of-warranty repairs, we’ll quote a quality aftermarket equivalent only when the dimensional tolerance matches within 1mm. Close enough doesn’t exist here: a paver sitting even 2mm proud becomes a trip hazard and a stress point, especially on Houston gumbo clay that already moves through wet-dry cycles.

Signs Your Cover Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Rocking or rattling pavers underfoot. The sand bedding has washed out or compacted unevenly underneath. Water is getting under the surface and eroding the support layer.
- Standing water pooling in one spot after rain. The base is no longer at grade. In Houston’s clay soil, a low spot almost never self-corrects – it deepens, and the standing water works the joint sand out faster.
- Border course drifting outward. The edge restraint has failed or was never pinned correctly. Once the border moves, the field loses its compression and every paver starts walking.
- Joint sand blowing out or washing down the slope. Normal after a few Houston summers. When joints go empty, pavers start shifting under load and edges chip against each other.
- Visible cracking or spalling on the paver face. Either a material issue or a drainage problem putting pressure under the surface. Spalled pavers collect water, water expands, and the crack spreads.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Houston, sectional paver repair runs $2,000 – $6,000 when the base is salvageable. Full driveway replacement with new pavers starts around $7,000 and tops out near $18,000 for a large two-car drive with premium units, new base rock, and proper compaction. Concrete driveways run $4,500 – $12,000 as a point of comparison. The range moves on three things: square footage, whether we’re reusing the existing base or excavating and rebuilding it, and the unit cost of the paver itself. Every number gets written down before work starts. That includes base prep, compaction, edge restraint replacement, and the joint sand. If we hit rotten ground that changes the scope, you get a written change order with a new number before a shovel moves. The repair is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it doesn’t hold for a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can clean the surface and replace joint sand yourself – that’s straightforward maintenance and it’s safe. What you shouldn’t do is pull up a failed section and eyeball the base repair. If the base has settled, adding more sand on top just hides the problem for one season. Compacted base rock in Houston needs to be installed at the right depth for the soil type, and gumbo clay moves more than people expect. Get the base wrong and the pavers sink again inside a year. Call us at (940) 289-7658 if the failure runs deeper than the joint sand. We’ll look at it, tell you what it actually needs, and put the number in writing.
FAQs

With proper base compaction and drainage, a paver driveway in Houston should give 25 – 30 years on the units themselves. The base may need rework at 10 – 15 years depending on drainage and soil movement. Call (940) 289-7658 if your pavers are failing earlier – that usually means a base issue, not a material one.
Yes, if the failure is localized and the surrounding base is sound, a sectional repair is usually the right call. We’ll give you a straight answer on whether the base can be saved or needs to be rebuilt. Estimates are free.
A sectional repair typically takes 1 – 2 days. A full driveway replacement runs 3 – 5 days depending on access and square footage. We schedule the job in a fixed window and hold to it.
We stock common Cover-compatible paver sizes, edge restraints, and joint sand on the truck. Unusual sizes or older-generation parts may take a few days to source. Call (940) 289-7658 and we’ll tell you what we can match immediately.
