Jerith Bathroom Remodeling: The Houston Owner’s Guide

Jerith bathroom remodeling in Houston typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on whether you’re replacing a failing component or gut-renovating the full space. We stock Jerith-compatible hardware, trim, and replacement components on our trucks, and we can usually diagnose and price a repair the same day we look at it. Most owners discover a problem the hard way: a door that won’t latch square, a corroded hinge that snaps mid-shower, or a frame that’s swollen enough to catch the glass.

Jerith’s aluminum and tempered-glass shower enclosures are built to take daily use, but Houston’s climate works against them. Humidity stays above 80% for months at a stretch. Aluminum oxidizes, seals break down, and mineral buildup from Houston’s hard water eats at the finish. When a Jerith part fails, it’s rarely the glass itself. It’s almost always the metal around it, or the seal between metal and glass. That’s the part we replace.

Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith makes two product families that matter for bathroom work: framed shower enclosures and frameless or semi-frameless glass hardware. The framed lines, like the 4300 and 6500 series, use anodized aluminum rails with a specific channel depth, usually 5/16 inch or 3/8 inch glass. The frameless hardware uses a completely different mounting system, with hinges and clips that clamp directly to the glass edge. The parts do not interchange between the two families.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see all the time in Houston homes: a homeowner pulls a broken door hinge, orders what looks identical online, and it’s off by an eighth of an inch. Jerith’s hinge spacing on framed units is a 2-3/4 inch center-to-center pattern, which is close to the industry standard but not exact. Aftermarket parts made for generic enclosures will often thread in but leave the door cocked. We match parts by the stamped number on the hinge leaf or the rail itself. If the stamp is gone, we measure the glass thickness first, then the pivot offset. That tells us everything we need.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for Jerith framed enclosures, we will use OEM when it’s available and economically sensible. For a door handle or a wall-jamb seal, quality aftermarket equivalents from the major hardware suppliers hold up fine and cost materially less. For hinges and rollers, we go OEM or we machine the match ourselves. A roller that binds because it’s 1 millimeter off will destroy a bottom track in six months. Not worth it.

Signs Your Jerith Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Door sags and catches the threshold: The top roller or hinge bearing has worn, which is usually gradual. By the time it catches, the pivot is ovaled out and replacing just the roller won’t hold. The hinge leaf needs to come too.
  • Aluminum rail shows white, chalky crust: That’s oxidation from Houston humidity meeting the anodized finish. Once it starts, it spreads under the seal and the glass loses its set. If caught early, we can sometimes clean and re-seal. If it’s pitted, the rail goes.
  • Water pools at the bottom corners: The weep holes in the lower track are clogged with mineral deposits from hard water. Water backs up, wicks into the wall channel, and starts ruining the substrate behind the tile. We see this in houses all over the Houston metro, but especially in Katy and Sugar Land where the water is very hard.
  • Glass rattles when you open or close the door: The nylon bushings inside the hinge have crumbled. The glass is now riding metal-on-metal, which is how you get a stress crack at the hinge point. This is the one to catch early.
  • Musty smell that won’t go away even after cleaning: Water is getting behind the frame, into the drywall or cement board, and the framing is holding moisture. That’s not a parts problem anymore. That’s a remodel. The substrate has to be opened, dried, and rebuilt.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A freestanding soaking tub in a remodeled primary bathroom

For a targeted Jerith parts replacement, like swapping a door assembly, replacing worn hinges, or installing new rollers and a bottom track, most Houston jobs land between $400 and $1,800 in parts and labor. For a full bathroom remodel where we’re pulling the old Jerith unit, rebuilding the substrate, and installing a new enclosure, the range is $9,000 to $28,000. That spread is driven by one thing: what’s behind the tile. If the studs and cement board are dry and solid, the job stays at the bottom of the range. If Houston humidity has been doing its work for ten years, we’re replacing framing, leveling the floor, and redoing waterproofing. The price moves accordingly.

Every job, whether it’s a $400 hinge replacement or a $25,000 gut remodel, comes with a written price before we start. No numbers move at the door. No change orders appear unless the wall is opened and we find something neither of us could see. If we find rot behind the shower, we stop, show you, and put the new scope in writing with a new number before any additional work happens. That’s The Garrison Standard, and we’ve been operating under it since 2004.

All completed work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the part fails or the installation doesn’t hold within a full year, we return and correct it at no charge. In writing, every time, signed at close.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can safely clean mineral buildup from Jerith tracks with white vinegar and a soft brush. You can check the weep holes with a toothpick. You can tighten a loose handle with a screwdriver. Those are maintenance items, not repairs. What you should not do is attempt to remove or replace a hinge, roller, or glass panel on a Jerith enclosure without the right tools and experience. The glass panels weigh 60 to 90 pounds. A single slip with a panel that heavy means a shattered shower door, and tempered glass splinters into hundreds of small pieces. The danger is real, not hypothetical.

We get calls from Houston homeowners who watched a video, pulled the door, and now it’s leaning against a wall in the guest bedroom because the hinge wouldn’t thread back. That call costs more than the original repair would have. If it’s a hinge, roller, track, or frame issue, call (940) 289-7658. We’ll send a background-checked, uniformed technician out to diagnose the exact part, write you a number, and if you approve, fix it properly.
