Silestone Home Additions & ADU: The Houston Owner’s Guide
Silestone countertops and surfaces in a home addition or ADU in Houston typically run $45,000 to $130,000 installed, depending on square footage, layout complexity, and finish level. We stock and install full slabs, prefabricated sections, and replacement pieces matched to your existing Silestone color and edge profile, and most countertop-related callbacks are resolved in a single visit. The most common way Houston owners discover a problem is during a remodel handoff: a seam opens, a corner chips at the cutout, or the slab was never properly shimmed and now flexes under load. Curtis Lane has walked enough Houston job sites to know that a Silestone failure is rarely the stone itself. It’s almost always what’s underneath it.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone runs three product lines that show up in Houston additions and ADUs: the Classic series, the Platinum series, and the more recent Sunlit Days and Loft collections. The part you’re replacing, whether it’s a countertop section, a backsplash slab, or a full island surface, has to be matched for both color batch and thickness. Silestone comes standard in 2cm and 3cm thicknesses, and Houston fabricators sometimes mix the two on a single job to save material cost. That creates problems later when a replacement piece is ordered. A 2cm piece on cabinets with a 3cm overhang pattern will sit visibly lower, and no amount of shimming hides it.
Every Silestone slab carries an engraved identification code on the underside or back edge, usually within six inches of a corner. That code gives us the color name, batch number, and production date. Batch matters more than most people realize. Silestone colors shift slightly between production runs, and a piece from a different batch can look close and still be visibly off in Houston’s bright natural light. We match batches first, then color names. If the original code is gone, we measure and photograph the surface against a Silestone sample deck to lock the nearest possible match before we ever quote the job.
OEM Silestone is always our recommendation for a visible surface in an ADU or addition. Aftermarket quartz slabs from other manufacturers can be color-close but use different resin systems. That affects stain resistance and UV stability, and in a Houston ADU with large windows, UV is not hypothetical. The wrong resin yellows. Our quote always states whether we’re procuring an OEM Silestone slab or proposing a documented alternative, and we don’t swap brands without saying so first.
Bradford Remodeling Co Houston is an independent contractor. We’re not affiliated with Silestone or its parent company, and we don’t claim to be. We do work with their material every week, and we know how it behaves in this climate.

Signs Your Silestone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Seam separation along the run. Houston’s humidity cycles cause cabinet boxes to swell and shrink, and a Silestone seam that was cut tight with no expansion allowance will open at the joint. The fix is mechanical: we re-cut the seam, re-shim the run, and re-set the pieces with a flexible adhesive that moves with the house.
- Corner chip at the sink or cooktop cutout. This is the most common failure on Houston additions and ADUs with undermount sinks. The cutout was left too sharp, or the fabricator over-tightened the mounting clips. Quartz doesn’t flex; it breaks. We re-radius the cutout and replace the chipped section when possible, or re-cut the slab section if the chip compromises the edge.
- Slab flex or bounce when you press on the overhang. A Silestone countertop that moves under hand pressure means the substrate is wrong or the shims have settled. Left alone, the slab will crack at the weakest point, usually at the narrow bridge between the sink and the front edge. We pull the slab, fix the substrate, and reset it level.
- Staining that won’t lift with a standard quartz cleaner. Silestone’s resin is non-porous, but repeated exposure to hard water from Houston’s municipal supply leaves mineral deposits that look like stains. Real staining usually comes from the wrong cleaner eating the resin gloss. If the surface feels rough where it used to be smooth, the polish has been compromised and needs mechanical re-polishing.
- Edge profile delamination at a seam or outside corner. Poorly applied seam adhesive lets water in at the joint, and once moisture sits between two quartz pieces, the resin bond starts to fail. You’ll see a chalky white line widening over time. That joint has to be cleaned out, dried, and re-bonded; caulking over it just hides the failure for a few months.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Houston, a full Silestone home addition or ADU countertop package with installation runs $45,000 to $130,000. The spread depends on slab count, edge profile complexity, whether you’re doing a full-height backsplash in the same material, and whether the substrate needs rework before the stone goes down. A single replacement section in an existing ADU kitchen or bathroom typically runs well under the full-project range, and we price it as parts plus labor, not as a percentage of some imagined job size.
| Scope | Houston Installed Range |
|---|---|
| Full ADU kitchen + bath Silestone package | $45,000 – $130,000 |
| Kitchen countertop replacement (Silestone) | $2,000 – $6,500 |
| Bathroom vanity top replacement (Silestone) | $800 – $3,000 |
| Seam repair / re-bond without slab replacement | $400 – $1,800 |
Every line item is written before we start. The quote includes slab material, fabrication, delivery, installation, substrate repair if needed, and haul-away of the failed section. No line item moves at the door. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation for a full year: if a seam opens or a slab settles inside twelve months, we return and correct it at no charge. That guarantee is in writing, and you get a signed copy at closeout.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect a Silestone installation yourself. Run a finger along every seam and feel for a raised edge or a gap. Press on the overhang and watch for movement. Look at the cutout corners with a flashlight and check for hairline cracks. What you should not do is attempt a slab removal or re-set. A full Silestone countertop section weighs between 80 and 140 pounds per linear foot, and an island piece can top 400 pounds. Combine that with sharp edges, a polished surface that offers no grip, and Houston humidity making everything slick, and you have a job that injures people who do it once a year. Our crew handles this weekly. If you’ve found a failing seam or a cracked section in your addition or ADU, call (940) 289-7658 and we’ll send someone to look at it. The inspection is straightforward, and you’ll get a written number before anything gets scheduled.
FAQs

Silestone quartz is rated for decades of residential use, but the installation is only as good as the substrate and the seam work. In Houston’s humidity, we see most failures at seams and cutouts within the first three years if the original install was rushed. A properly set Silestone countertop should last 20 to 25 years without major work.
Small corner chips and minor surface scratches can often be filled and polished by a fabricator with the right equipment, and we do that work in place. A full crack through the slab thickness cannot be structurally repaired; it needs a section replacement. The crack will continue to spread as the house moves. Call (940) 289-7658 and we’ll tell you which situation you have.
A seam repair or corner re-set is usually done in one visit, often the same day for a single seam. A full section replacement requires templating, fabrication, and a return visit for installation, which typically runs two to three weeks in Houston. We give you the schedule in writing when you approve the quote.
We maintain a small inventory of common Silestone colors in 3cm thickness for fast ADU and addition callbacks, and we source full slabs from Houston-area distributors within days for custom matches. We also work regularly with KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria surfaces, and Kohler fixtures when a project requires coordinating materials across brands.
